Ruby Bruise is so full of life and its various experiences that it takes four actors to tell her story. Fin Kruckemeyer\u2019s hypermanic text takes her from birth to 39 in a zany, intense, often troubled series of women\u2019s rites and wrongs. Ruby\u2019s world of wolves and blood, laughs and desperate tears, shows us that although she bruises she will not break.<\/p>\n
Imaginatively directed by The Misery Children\u2019s Daisy Brown and performed in a transformed Waterside Hall inside designer Wendy Todd\u2019s intriguing cocoon-like white tent. Mario Spate\u2019s ambient music serves well and the actors \u2013 Sarah Brokensha, Elena Carapetis and Ellen Steele move fluently between the sometimes cryptic scenes. Nathan O\u2019Keefe is especially versatile as the fourth bruise.
