Welcome to MurrayBramwell.com<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have been a theatre and music reviewer in Adelaide, South Australia since 1985. Over that time I have written for numerous Australian publications including The National Times<\/em>, CentreStage<\/em>, Lowdown<\/em>, 24 Hours, Vogue<\/em>, Theatre Australia<\/em> , The Advertiser<\/em> and The Australian Financial Review<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I contributed regularly to The Adelaide Review<\/em> from 1985 until 2010 and for The Australian<\/em> since 1990 .<\/em> Other websites and publications I have recently written for include New Zealand Aotearoa Books, The Barefoot Review, Daily Review, Limelight,<\/em> and InReview (InDaily)<\/em><\/p>\n

This site is an archive of my writings for these publications.<\/p>\n

There is a full bibliography and the archive allows access by year and art form. The most recent reviews are listed under Current.<\/p>\n

Murray Bramwell<\/p>\n

Born in 1949 in Palmerston North, New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Educated at Hokowhitu Primary and Palmerston North Boys’ High.
\nGraduated MA Honours in English from Massey University, Palmerston North in 1970. Taught for one year in the English Department at Massey.<\/p>\n

In 1972 took up a postgraduate scholarship to Flinders University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia. Taught part-time in English (and later in Drama) at Flinders University, Adelaide University, and Sturt College of Advanced Education from 1972 \u2013 1988.
\nWorked as Welfare Officer for the Flinders University Union from 1978 \u2013 1988.
\nAppointed to a full-time Lectureship in Drama at Flinders in 1989.
\nPromoted to Associate Professor in 2006.
\nRetired from teaching in March 2011.<\/p>\n

Began reviewing theatre regularly for The National Times<\/em> in 1985. Also The Adelaide<\/em> Review<\/em> (1985-2010) and The Advertiser<\/em> (1986-7). First contributed to The Australian<\/em> in 1990, then continuously from 1991. Contributed also to CentreStage, The Australian Financial Review, Lowdown, New Theatre Australia, Theatre Australasia, 24 Hours, Australian Listener, The Sydney Review, Harper’s, Island, Meanjin, Editions, The New Zealand Listener, New Zealand Aotearoa Books, The Sondheim Review<\/em> and others.<\/p>\n
